India defeated England in the finals of the 2nd World Cup Cricket 2005 for Deaf
written on: December 30, 2005
The tournament, held in Lucknow from November 17 to 27 2005, was organised by the Deaf Cricket International Federation (DCIF) in which teams from as many as nine countries participated.
Its little disappointing that we could only read about the controversy over a cricketer sourav ganguly, and about the politically popular Board of control for cricket in India(BCCI) elections in November 2005 in the media.. and not this Deaf Cricket world cup.
Media does only sellable news.. So it could also mean that we readers have become so urbanized that media thinks we wouldn't be bothered about a Deaf cricket world cup.
It beats... Its deaf people... those challenged ones who need some consideration and encouragement from us with their achievements. Did we ignore them?
Another dissappointing fact is, even the organisers DCIF haven't updated their website since the tournament started. It still has only the schedule, and no news about the teams, the cup, or neither the finals which India won.
Anyway, atleast the news got the attention recently by way of email forwards. I received an email fwd and checked up the web to read that news. I didn't find all those great NDTV, CNN IBN, or any nut reporting it... but only a few bloggers. and this web article.
