Anybody who got interested into programming computers and microprocessors for a considerable period, definitely should have had aimbitions of game programming.
That much is the drool value for game creation assignments.. but atleast 90% of programmers steer away from venturing into it because its a tough world. You gotto work hard, think hard, slog hard, try try and retry hard out here.. because its about creation and creation from the scratch pad atleast the first time.
Try writing one game program and you will understand the hardwork involved...especially the first time you build a game.
Sorry if that was too unfriendly and discouraging. The stress here is made in the context that you really have to put your soul into the work, and definitely as they say sweet are the fruits of hardwork and success.
Europeans, Japenese, Koreans, Russians, and Americans are generally top-end contributors to the game programming world.. (or did i smartly leave only a few better known countries out of the list)
If you were wondering..... no not India...(atleast as yet). In India computer services industry is huge, and in almost all kind of product development areas... India lacks... blame it on slower ROI or blame it on less interest in Indians in these areas.
Gaming technology has grown both hardware and software ways from gameStations, playstations, XBOX... to the still under research but popular high-end gaming hardware that's yet to arive on the arena.
Game programming has also grown into many cross-domains like Graphics, Application Logic, Process Logic, Artifical Intelligence etc.,
Any talk on game programming should address some review of a popular game. But not this blog entry... and I am no gamer.
Special Gaming TV channels have sprung up over years delivering game reviews, news, and related updates. Online gaming centers and kiosks are coming up around us. Gaming is happening! Yes! slowly but steadily even in India where computer gaming is not popular.
Hey if you are a fresh graduate out of college and want to take up game progamming, well you ROCK! is the phrase for you.
Recently I saw a TV channel review of the game "Constantine" based on the picture Constantine.. Dear, I should say the game was better.
The program host was all excited on the show talking about this game, its features, the weaponry, the rivalry, the cavalry, the arena, and then about 'going to hell' in the game now and then like keanu reeves goes to hell in the picture Constantine.
The presenter of the show also showed some shooting stuff with the different available weapons... ah! killing is an art in gaming.. what else do I like in gaming other than firing that weapon all 360 degress like some confused, perplexed commander-in-cheif.
Some critics say, "Computer games create a lot of wasted time, both by developers and players ... and now reviewers."... Well, I would have liked to trust their statement a little, if I hadn't heard about casinos and slot machines. Computer games in my opinion are better than slot machines...for they dont drive you so crazy to make money, but only drive you to win crazy.
There are as you expected atleast a million websites on gaming but if you wanted to know about game programming, below could start you up.. and you can find more links from there.
